A versatile and dynamic percussionist from Melbourne/Naarm, Alexander enjoys surprising audiences with unique repertoire to create exciting and evocative performances. While classically trained he enjoys the multifaceted nature of percussion, loves learning about musical styles and instruments from around the world, and is adaptable to all sorts of situations, as a soloist or ensemble member, onstage or offstage.

Alexander holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Percussion from the University of Melbourne, and trained at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), where he was awarded the ANAM Directors’ Prize upon completing his training.

Particularly passionate about theatre and performances that are narrative-focused, energetic, and transportive, Alexander has performed with (amongst others), Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Speak Percussion, Orchestra Victoria, Astra Chamber Music Society, CLOC Musical Theatre Company, and APRA AMCOS Awards. He has been part of major festivals including Asia TOPA, RISING, and Adelaide Festival. In July 2025 he was part the Interplay program for opera and chamber music at Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity (Canada).

From 2023-2024, Alexander was part of Speak Percussion’s Bespoke Emerging Artist Program, where he created “A Brilliant Seagull” - a performance for vibraphone, hand percussion, and pre-recorded soundscape inspired by the Richard Bach novella “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”. It will be featured in Coexistence alongside percussionst/sound designer Jesse Vivante as part of Musica Viva’s 2026 Regional Touring program.

Alexander can be heard in the soundtracks for the Nicolas Cage/Lorcan Finnegan film “The Surfer” (music by François Tétaz) and Jacob Boehme’s dance work “Guuranda” (music by James Henry), which premiered at Adelaide Festival 2024.
